From seedling to soup.

We have been growing tomatoes, gourds, peas and spring onions. Our tomatoes and gourds are not ready yet but just look at our peas!

We decided to make some soup.
First we picked our peas.

Then we selected some big spring onions. They smelt quite strong!

Next we chopped our ingredients,

cooked them and blended them.

After that we pinched out some sprigs of mint to garnish.

Finally we served our soup in a pretty bowl.

Was it good?

OH  YES!

Super sorting!

Here we are sorting according to two attributes. Can you work out how we have done it?

Minibeast habitats

We have been learning about minibeasts. We went for a minibeast hunt around our school. One of the best places to find minibeasts was the log pile in the peaceful patch.
Here we are creating minibeast habitats out of clay. The creatures were added by using slip.

What a song and dance!

International Arts week was amazing! We joined with the other classes in KS1 in finding out about Kenya and experiencing a variety of arts, crafts, music and literature.
We began by reading 'The Greedy Zebra' by Mwenye Hadithi which is set in Kenya. We created our own story maps and learnt to tell the story. We added sound effects and performed the story to the whole school!

Then we looked more closely at the variety of life in Kenya; at the different communities and lifestyles and the African wildlife.

Here are some samples of the work we produced.

Assembly for parents.

On Friday it was our assembly. We invited parents in to share the work we have been doing on electricity. We demonstrated and  explained how electricity flows around a complete circuit and how a switch can be used to break or connect the circuit. Then we showed the models we  designed and made with working lights.

We were so poroud when they all lit up beautifully!

Becoming Streetwise!

This week we visited Streetwise. This is a wonderful resource that teaches us how to stay safe in our daily lives. The centre is divided up into areas .e.g.the home, the garden, the road, the beach, the park.
In each place there are dangers to spot and safety messages to learn.

We were taught how to call the emergency services;

how to cross the road safely and to always wear a helmet when riding a bike!

The final message was Never go with strangers however convincing they seem to be!!!
Thankyou Streetwise. We won't forget!
