International Day of Peace

On International Peace Day we reflected on the lovely feeling of peace.
We thought about the people everywhere who live in sadness, war or poverty who cannot find peace at the moment. We created peace flags like Nepalese prayer flags withour wishes for peace thrtoughout the world.
'Let Peace Be a Gift for Everyone'

Balancing our diets

Here we are sorting foods into groups.

We learnt about the nutrients each group provides and how eating a variety of foods keeps our bodies healthy and strong.

Food for thought.

This half term our topic is 'Food for thought'. The children have already come up with lots of questions they want to find  answers to. These include;
Where do our foods come from?
How is food made?
Which foods grow?
Which foods are good for us and which aren't?
What do people in other countrries eat?
This week we are looking at the question 'Which foods are good for us and why do we need food?'
Click here to watch the athlete Amanda Jones explain what people need to eat for a healthy lifestyle.
She lists the five types of food to be eaten every day to stay healthy.

Welcome!

Welcome to our new Kew Gardens blog. We hope you will follow our year with interest; learn with us and enjoy seeing examples of our work and activities.

To make Kew Gardens Base a happy and successful learning environment we have created a Class Charter.  Our Charter outlines our Rights in the classroom; To be safe, To be happy, To be comfortable, To be respected, and To be able to learn.
It also describes our Responsibilities, the attitudes and behaviour we need to ensure everyone else enjoys their rights in our classroom. We all agreed and signed our Charter so we can be 'The best that we can be!'
